M. Sheron Trotman Dance Strides Barbados

Sheron Trotman is a tutor, choreographer, professional artist and is the founder, Artistic Director and Principal of Dance Strides Barbados. She was trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, New York, and achieved the Intermediate Level Royal Academy of Dance Ballet Exam. She is a certified Level 1 Foundation Training instructor.

Ms. Trotman has taught and choreographed extensively from primary to tertiary level, both regionally and internationally, including tutoring in New York and at Howard University, Washington, DC where she taught specialized techniques while working as co-administrator for the Pearl E. Primus Video Documentation.  She sat on the board of the Theatre Arts Program at the Barbados Community College and judges on a national level for The National Independence Festival of Creative Arts and The crop Over Festival.

She has performed in South Africa, England, and the USA and throughout the Caribbean; did research on dance and culture in Panama, Suriname, Australia, Egypt, Senegal, Mali, Timbuktu and Gorée Island; and had acting roles in three films, Gutterperc, A Hand Full of Dirt and Auntie, written and directed by Barbadian filmmakers, Andrew Millington, Russell Watson and Lisa Harewood respectively.
